Smoothies play quite a big part in my daily life and even though I do not drink them each day, a smoothie every couple of days make quite an amount of fruit/superfood powders and other smoothie ingredients consumed. For that reason (and for kitchenjulie content, of course) I have my favourite superfood powders stored safely in my cupboard, including maca root powder. I find it tastes best when mixed with banana, various kinds of nut butters, seeds, non-dairy milks. Here’s a wintery maca smoothie recipe (because GINGER!!) I hope you’ll enjoy!
Serves 1 | 1 cup - 250ml | 1 tablespoon - 15ml | Total time: 5 mins
- 1 banana
- 1 date
- 1 tablespoon of almond butter
- 1 teaspoon of maca root powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- juice of 5g of ginger root (using a garlic press)
- 1/2 cup of non-dairy milk
- 1/3 cup of water
Place all ingredients in a blender, squeeze out ginger juice using a garlic press, discard of ginger leftovers. Blend everything until smooth and serve immediately. Use cold water and refrigerated non-dairy milk for best taste. You can also use frozen banana if you want a thick, creamy smoothie.
